View and Download

Using the GLARS Data Viewer

Read the instructions below to view and download Great Lakes Basin geospatial products produced by GLARS.

Metadata for these products is available via two methods:

1.) Clicking the respective product name on the “Data List” webpage this site, or

2.) Clicking the contacts card icon for the specific data layer when inside the GLARS Data Viewer.

Important Data Access and Download Instructions 

  • Please note that to access and download data, we ask that you use this link to get login information. The information you provide allows us to show how this data is being used and shape future development.
  • Data available on this website has a variety of acknowledgement requirements when used in published materials, web pages, and media interviews. Please be sure to read and understand those requirements as described at this link.
  • To explore and download data:
    • Choose an Index file and zoom to your area of interest.
    • Pick “Identify” from main menu, click on map, and hit “Go”
    • From list of results, you can Zoom to Extent, Show on Map, or Download. With “Show on Map” you can preview the contents on your current map (turn off Index and switch Basemap if needed). Go to the “Visible” tab to turn off a Show on Map layer.
    • Click the Download icon to choose and download a file. If you want to download files in bulk, see Instructions below.

DO NOT USE the “New user? Register link found on the SharedGeo “Sign in to your account” feature which will open when clicking the button below!

After obtaining your login information via email, return to this page and use the button below to login.
