GLARS at MTRI
The MRTI is serving within the with Great Lakes Alliance for Remote Sensing (GLARS) in three capacities. These responsibilities include serving as the lead organization for:
- Coordination with Canadian partners Environment and Climate Change Canada and Natural Resources Canada, RADARSAT-2 imagery acquisition, and development of innovative products using RADARSAT-2,
- Field verification of wetland remote sensing technologies being developed by GLARS partners within the EPA-funded Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) project, and,
- Outreach efforts promoting awareness and understanding of GLARS project developments. See this link for more information on MTRI and GLARS products.
In supporting these diverse responsibilities, MTRI has developed an interconnected website and story map focusing on the application of GLARS developed technologies to wetland mapping and monitoring. Beyond the story of considerable and evolving wetland remote sensing research and development taking place at MTRI, find also on these websites recorded monthly GLARS outreach “Wetlands Wednesdays” webinars and project newsletters.
